Otherworld Berserkers

Here are some more minis from the LL 2 - Level 2 Otherworld boxed set; these guys are great and close to what my 8 yr old mind envisioned when I read In Search of the Unknown from the Holmes box.

Tomorrow is moving day so I will not be posting for awhile.

WOC400013 Barbarian

Here is another of the Silver Anniversary Miniatures from TSR/WOC.  This is a great Miniature.  "Cannon" paint scheme.

LL Boxed Set 2

Just starting to chip away at the Otherworld’s Labyrinth Lord Level 2 Boxed Set; nothing fancy here, mostly dry brushing.  The Ghoul is actually painted to represent an “Encephalon Gorger” from Necromancer Games The Tome of Horrors II.

I have to order some gloss varnish to coat the green slime to give it a wet, slimy appearance. The pot I had gummed up significantly and I didn’t know how to get it back to the right consistency.  If anyone knows another technique for the slimy look or how to get the right flow on gummed gloss varnish, please post.

Complete Town Guards and another Schubert painted model

The people at IWM sent me the town guard that was absent in my original order (January 23rd post)  The shades are not exactly right as they were painted at different times mixing colors “on the fly” but you probably wouldn’t notice the slight variation if I placed them down on the gaming board for a potential encounter.

The second miniature is Elladan Swiftbrook (Dark Heaven: 2543).  I again followed Derek Schubert’s guide from “The Craft” article at the Reaper website (http://www.reapermini.com/TheCraft/6).  Over all, the guide was spot on.  However, I could not get the leaves on the sections of leather armor to look like the image following the guide.  I don’t know if it was too vague or I just couldn’t get it.  Either way, I good with the result: if I would have done it without following a guide trying to get a similar result I’d probably be extremely happy with how it turned out. But since I was following a blue print I'm only “so so” with the result.

The answer to "recognize this?":

Casket Works number 23 cover art by Wayne Reynolds!  Great picture.  Not sure exactly what they are fighting though or I would've tried to paint the opponent: some outsider.

Recognize this?

If you are not a Reaper Miniatures fan you will probably not recognize this.

Miniatures (all Reaper):  02229: Brag Ironballs (the Dwarf); 03048: Sir William, Peace Maker (Plate Armor); 03073: Sarah the Seeress (female); 65094: Torin, Thief (cloak).

Quick note: to be a truer representation the warrior in plate should actually be “03171: Sir Thomas, Adventuring Knight.”

***Edit: as far as the dwarf goes, I just picked something similar; in the original work he carries a shield.

Here's a slightly different angle:

I couldn't quite get everyone in focus at once.

Wotc Silver Anniversary Miniatures

I like this line and have plans to collect more of them. I’ve already posted the bugbear awhile back.

 Cyclops WOC40016

 Fighter (Male) WOC40004
Lesser Vampire WOC40009

Also, here are some props; I use a erasable battle-map in games but I believe these will be good to remind me of how narrow choke points doors really are.  They are often used as funnels for meeting a limited number of foes but I do not usually remember to restrict movement, say for dead bodies or as squeeze points.  I believe this should do the trick in combat situations.
